Encounter With God - The Moment I Was Baptized With The Holy Spirit

The pastor laid his hands on my head and encouraged me to open my mouth ... nothing happened. Everyone around me was speaking in a language I could not understand; the words they speak are totally foreign to me. I checked myself and asked, "Is my faith not yet enough for God to accept me as His child?" Then I asked God, "Lord, what is lacking in me?"

While I was speaking in silence with my eyes closed, I saw blurry images of words and/or syllables. My ignorance made me think that maybe I will read the words I saw in my mind. I tried to read them but failed. The words were so unclear and they were moving so fast ... except one. That word was lenovo.

The pastor laid his hands again on my head. This time, I prayed to God, "Lord, you see my mind and my heart. If you think that I am now ready to receive you please accept me. I humble myself to you Lord. But if, for You, I am not yet ready and still need to learn Your ways, then Your will be done."

Suddenly, I felt the warmth from my head and
it spread through my face and through my whole body. I started to speak words unknown to me. I could not understand what I was speaking but I could feel the depth of the words. My emotions were so strong, I was almost breathless. As I speak, I could feel the heaviness being gradually released and a great feeling of relief came over me. When I was done speaking, I could not contain the peace and joy I have inside my heart. I was confused about what just happened but I was happy - a kind of happiness that no words can explain.

During this encounter with God, I experienced His power. I went home with a light heart and a free person. Everything that haunted me - my sins, guilt - was erased by God's grace. Everything about me changed that day. This is the beginning of a new journey - my journey with God.

Have you received the Holy Spirit?
You too can receive the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches us that we receive the Holy Spirit the moment we surrender our hearts to Jesus Christ and individually receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. God puts His Spirit within us and we are born as a child of God.

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God," (John 1:12). "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Rom. 10:9). "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8).

Luke 11:9-13
9"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"
